Interface Designer

Bonjour. My name's Daniel Hellier and I'm a freelance web developer from Essex, England. I specialize in visual design - crafting lines of code into living, breathing applications. I'm a strict minimalist, I design with elegance and gentility in mind.

Careful preparation is given to every element placed on a page. If it's unclear how an element is useful, it should be discarded. The goal of design is not in superfluous minutiae, but clear thinking made visual.

I enjoy working with passionate people who truly care about their users, my clientele is primarly like-minded developers and entrepenuers for this reason. The positives of a client who gets the internet shouldn't be underestimated!

A star symbol is used to represent user favorites. It's visually easier to see a gold star than a button saying "favorite." This thumbnail expands upon hover, showing a higher quality preview.

Passwords are not masked by default. Masking text though common, is still a usability hindrance. Signup takes less than 20 seconds. This is due to the bare minimum being asked.

I seperated these mandatory questions from the initial signup process. Once answered the blue box disappears. See how the content below is grayed out.

Users can quickly change forum categories without using an index page, a solution to a common flaw in most forum software.

If a user wishes to delete their account, I'm a strong believer in making their last experience a happy one. A confirm password step is behind this tab to prevent abuse.

The tradionally method of displaying nutritional data isn't compelling. Breaking the coloumn into three, I used green and red to signify the significant positives and negatives.

Research I
A project foundation begins with a deep and meticulous understanding of your vision. I'll ask questions, gather ideas, learn your objectives and map what needs to be accomplished.
Wireframe II
I brainstorm, mind map, and sketch compositions. It's important to intuitively and logically structure, categorize and display content.
Prototype III
Through constant refinement of intitial wireframes, I'm able to conceptualize and execute a single sharp solution.
Test IV
With the solution pinpointed, it's tested for cross-browser and platform compatability, accessibility and bugs.
Deploy V
We deploy to a live production environment.
Optimize VI
Through split testing and analytics, we're able to continuously monitor, measure and re-evaluate the project to it's maxima.
